Shane Watson is one of Australia’s most influential cricketers and arguably the world’s number one all rounder. In addition to being a respected and dedicated athlete, Shane’s strong work ethic and values make him an invaluable ambassador and inspiring public speaker. Shane’s international cricket career spans more than a decade and he draws on his experiences both on and off the field to inspire people across the world.
In 2010 and 2011 Shane was awarded the prestigious Allan Border Medal as Australia’s best player after remodelling his bowling action transformed him into a formidable competitor with both bat and ball in all forms of the game. He was also awarded ‘Player of the Tournament’ in the ICC T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka in October 2012, after securing four consecutive Man of the Match awards. He is only the tenth man in history to score a century in all forms of international cricket.
Appointed Vice Captain of the Australian team from 2011-2013, Shane become Australia’s 44th Test Captain and led the Australian Team against India in Delhi in March 2013. Shane also captained the Rajasthan Royals in 2014 and 2015 and was awarded ‘most valuable player’ in the Indian Premier League in the inaugural 2008 season and again in 2013.
Shane played an integral part in Australia’s ICC One Day World Cup tournament win in March 2015 and Australia’s 5-0 Ashes Series whitewash against England in Australia during the 2013/2014 International Summer of Cricket.
